Before the crew arrives
We inspect and document the roof first — a free ScanShield AI drone scan plus a hands-on walk where it is warranted. If the job is insurance-funded, that documentation goes into your claim and we meet your adjuster on site. Once the scope is settled, we order materials and schedule the build.
The day of the build
- Early start. Crews typically begin between 6 and 7 in the morning to work ahead of afternoon heat. It is loud — there is no version of a tear-off that is not.
- Tear-off. The old roof comes off down to the decking. This is when hidden problems surface: rotted decking, previous repairs done badly, inadequate flashing.
- Decking inspection. Anything soft or rotted gets replaced. This is often the one line item that changes after the estimate, because nobody can see under the old shingles until they are off.
- Dry-in and install. Underlayment, then flashing, then the roofing material itself, installed to the manufacturer specification — which matters, because a manufacturer warranty is void on an improperly installed roof.
- Cleanup. Magnetic sweep of the yard and driveway for nails, debris hauled off. Most residential roofs finish in one to two days.
What you need to do
Move vehicles out of the driveway, take fragile items off the walls if you are sensitive to vibration, and keep pets inside. You do not need to be home, though most people like to be there at the start and the finish.
