A pipe boot is the rubber-and-metal collar that seals around plumbing vent pipes sticking out of your roof.
The rubber dries out and cracks in Texas sun, often years before the shingles wear out. Once it cracks, rain runs down the pipe into your attic.
A pipe boot replacement is usually a small, quick repair. Upgraded boots with longer-lasting materials are available.
